Wait For The Consignment Period To End And Receive Your Payment

Consignment shops are a one-stop solution if you have a pile of gently-used clothing that you no longer want. One important thing to keep in mind is the consignment period. Most shops have a consignment period of 60-90 days, during which time your clothes will be on display and for sale. At the end of the consignment period, the shop will either pay you for any sold items or return the unsold items to you. The consignment agreement you signed will note the consignment period. Some stores have a minimum, set time, while others will allow you to pick up your items before and/or after the selling period ends. As well, some stores will keep your clothes the second you’ve given them over to them. So, be sure to read your agreement before signing anything.

Your payout can be anywhere from immediate to 7 days (sometimes more), depending on the shop’s policy. Some shops allow customers to return the item. Thus, the payout period can take up to 8 days for you to “cash out.”

Other stores allow you to use your balance in-store and get a discount. This option allows you to shop for “free” and enjoy the circular fashion economy as the purchaser.
